I am from Maryland, born and raised. I grew up in the Catonsville area, raised by my mom and grandparents who are from Mexico! Nothing came easy for them, so they always taught me to work my very hardest if I wanted something. From my mom’s side of the family, I am the first generation to graduate college. I owe it all to my parents and grandparents for supporting me and helping me set the bar for the next gen of Rodriguez kids 🙂
I am now a UMD grad who works for a cybersecurity company as their Social Media Marketing Manager. I am forever on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Insta. Maybe even a bit too much 🙂
How would my friends describe me?
Quirky, fun, loyal, SHAMELESS. I am the one who has no problem embarrassing herself in any situation. I love to break it down to the music, even when there is none. In high school, the cheerleading team couldn’t think of an accurate superlative for me so you know what I was nominated? “Most likely to break her leg and laugh about it.” They say that you’re a culmination of your five closest friends, and I’d say I have a pretty darn good group.
What does CrossFit mean to you?
I have always been active. I was a competitive swimmer for 10 years, a cheerleader, and around age 22 I started to get into high intensity training. Almost 4 years ago, I went on this crazy fitness journey and was probably my most fit. I had dropped 15 pounds, ran the Baltimore 10 miler for the first time and felt great, but I got a bit bored. I loved the high intensity aspect, but I didn’t feel comfortable in the weight room if I weren’t using dumbbells. I started to lose the excitement of going to the gym because I lost the challenge and it felt a bit monotonous. CrossFit has been such an exciting change because it’s educated me on proper weightlifting, but I am also pushed to my limits. What CrossFit means to me is community. We’re all just a group of fun people who are trying to be the best version of themselves while encouraging others who are trying to do the same.
What’s The Craziest Thing You’ve Ever Done? Three years ago I went skydiving! Before anyone asks “why would you jump out of a perfectly good plane?” Anyone who has been skydiving can attest to the fact that those airplanes are NOT “perfectly good.” I swear they take you up for your jump in a barebones airplane so that you want to jump out. That being said, 10/10 would do it again.
