As a child I was very athletic. I played softball and took martial arts for several years. I loved to run and play my version of racquetball…..hit the ball against the wall. I married young and have a beautiful 8 year old daughter. A few years ago I lost my son and as a result I let my health go. I stopped exercising and just tried to maintain the weight I had gained. A couple of years ago I met an amazing person who has challenged me to take better care of myself physically and mentally. She constantly reminds me to take time for myself. This person is the main reason I joined the CrossFit community. She asked me to try this with her so here I am. As always she was right and I have fallen in love with this community.
Q: If you were out with a group of your best friends — the people closest to you — how would they describe you?
Those closest to me would probably describe me as kind, quiet (until you get to know me and I trust you), funny, and very sarcastic. They would also tell you that I am an introvert and love my alone time.
Q: Why are you excited about CrossFit? What does CrossFit mean to you?
I am excited to join a community that wants you show up and be your best self. I am excited to try something new and face new challenges. It is already pushing me harder than I want and I enjoy that. CrossFit is a fresh start for me. It is a huge leap in me taking control of my health and surrounding myself with people that will hold me accountable and encourage me to be better.
Q: Please feel free to add anything else that you would like people to know about you. One of my favorite questions is, what one thing do people generally *not* know about you, or would be surprised to know about you.
I am a pretty open book when it comes to who I am and the things I have or have not done in my life. Most people don’t know that I played a musical instrument for almost 9 years. People also don’t know that I am quite artistic….from drawing to painting, and even crocheting.
Bonus Question: What Animal Best Represents You And Why?
The animal that best represents me is probably the otter. They are fun and playful. They like being around others but are okay on their own. And while they are cute and snuggle up with each other, they can be feisty when they need to be.
