I found CrossFit in 2015 as a sport and fitness program that fit well with my background in gymnastics. Before finding CrossFit I tried for several years to work out on my own in a typical gym and couldn’t keep up the motivation to do it. CrossFit has given me the workouts and structured fitness every day of the week that I want to work out. It has given me a community, so that I don’t have to workout alone; and it’s given me a new found confidence in myself, my abilities, and my health. CFGB has maintained an incredible community, and provides an amazing facility that has something for everyone.

I discovered CrossFit back in 2011 when my husband turned on the 2011 CrossFit Games, however I did not start my journey until November 2012. I walked in overweight and out of shape and ready to take on whatever was thrown at me. I have become stronger, happier and healthier due to CrossFit and healthy eating. In 2014 I received my Level 1 and started coaching to help other reach their fitness goals. CFGB is a great box and I have enjoyed helping and watching the athletes at this gym improve. I get so excited when someone PRs or gets a skill they have been working on. So if you hear someone screaming it is probably me.

I’ve been doing CrossFit since Sept 2010 and have made it part of my health and wellness for life with my athletic family here at Glen Burnie. My husband Jim encouraged me to share my passion to become a trainer. My joy comes from the folks reaching a goal, from a first pull-up, a faster run time, muscle-up and losing a weight. Once you’ve met your fitness goal and I’m around? Be sure to ring the PR bell and write your name on a star with the date when you’ve hit it!
Grateful to be part of a community that welcomes the whole family!

My first experience with CrossFit was in 2017. I was coming off of a recent ACL surgery and I was hugely missing the camaraderie I had always found in team sports as a child and young adult in both soccer and swimming. At that time I was working as a traveling physical therapist assistant and I found myself in the middle of nowhere in Texas (my home state) where the only real gym to be found was Shotgun CrossFit. Immediately I loved the community and I loved the style and challenges of the workouts. I moved up to Maryland in 2018 and joined CFGB in 2020. I got my Level 1 at the end of 2020 and began coaching in January of 2021. I love our family of athletes and it is a huge privilege to work alongside such an amazing coaching staff.

I’ve always been an athlete; when I was younger, I played softball, track, basketball, and mostly cheerleading and gymnastics. As an adult; a runner, and a triathlete, but it was early 2013 when I was introduced to CrossFit. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the sport, not just for the methodology, but for the camaraderie, the competitive aspect, and mostly for the feeling of accomplishment. CrossFit has helped me be a healthy, strong mom, and a great role-model for my children.
For me, coaching has been one of the greatest experiences and I absolutely love it; being a part of someone’s fitness journey is so rewarding! Seeing an athlete accomplish their goals, learn a new skill, and better themselves is something I will always cherish.

I stumbled upon CrossFit in early 2012, when I was searching for motivation to get myself back into the swing of things. Boring old gym stuff just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Being a former athlete, I loved that CrossFit challenged me, constantly changed, and I had a team like atmosphere to support me. I was hooked pretty quickly. The desire to want to push myself was only enabled by my nerding out by researching movements, standards and wanting to learn all I could. I was naturally drawn to coaching it, I wanted to share what I learned, and I LOVE seeing things click for others! Coaching has been so fun for me and I am excited to join the CFGB community and staff!

I was first introduced to CrossFit in 2019 when my husband was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. As an active duty service member myself, and 5 months post partum, I knew my schedule would be hectic with work and being a temporary single parent. I heard about CrossFit from co workers and wanted to not only challenge my fitness, but workout at a location where my daughter could be with me, since bringing her would be helpful for my schedule. Once I joined CrossFit Glen Burnie, I saw I wasn’t the only one with a stroller on the side when completing the workout of the day. I immediately fell in love with not only the sport itself, but the community.
I cheered for 11 years before entering the Army as well as coached cheerleading for 4 years, and I missed every second of it. When I joined CrossFit, I noticed some of the movements sort of translated from the movements I did in cheer… I always threw girls into the air and caught them, for CrossFit you are throwing weights up overhead, and I felt like a base again. Once I started getting used to the first year of CrossFit, that cheerleader’s competitive side came out and I will never forget my background.
Having experience with coaching cheer, and being an instructor at the Defense Information School, I knew coaching CrossFit was the next step, and surely enough I attended my Level 1 in December 2021.
With my job in the Army being a Combat Documentation Production Specialist (Photographer/Videographer), I am also the social media specialist for CFGB. You will see me around the gym not only coaching and working out but taking photos and video as well!

All my life I’ve been a competitive athlete. Growing up playing Baseball and Hockey, I’ve always had that competitive attitude in me. Still to this day, I play hockey in DC and for the Maryland State Police team. In 2014, a teammate of mine introduced me to CrossFit and I fell in love with it from day 1. I’ve been involved in fitness since about 2009. I really enjoy the community aspect of CrossFit and pushing others to get better.
As a Maryland State Trooper, I’ve always committed to myself to be in shape and always be prepared for the job. As a father of 2, I want to be that role model for my kids and teach them the importance of being fit and healthy.
In 2017, I received my CF Level 1 and been coaching ever since. Coaching has become my passion and I love making athletes better. CFGB is one of the nicest gyms I’ve been to and I absolutely love the coaching staff. I have learned so much already being apart of this staff.

From a young age I have been heavily involved in sports. My dad coached my competitive basketball and softball teams, but in high school two ACL injuries switched my focus to talents I inherited from my mom– distance running. After multi-event state placings and an individual state cross country championship I entered into college planning to “take a break” from competition. This was short lived, as I found CrossFit in 2014 working as a research assistant at Kansas State University’s F.I.T. Lab. There I studied and conducted research with CrossFit involving cancer, ageing, and military readiness. I soon started competing in nearby competitions, ran my own pilot study, and got my CF-L1 in the spring of 2016. In 2018, I became a mom and my perspective on sport and exercise changed drastically. Two more kiddos later, I strongly believe CrossFit has helped me have healthy pregnancies, recoveries and adapt to mental health challenges through all of my pre-natal and postpartum periods. CrossFit is no longer just a sport or a job; it is a community of support, respite, and normalcy in my busy life.
Over the years husband’s military career has allow me gain experience though coaching at many different CrossFit gyms. I’m grateful to call CrossFit Glenn Burnie and the community my family has found there home.

From childhood through college, I played a multitude of sports which helped me stay in shape and gain a competitive spirit. After graduating there was a void until I found CrossFit. I started CrossFit in December of 2020 and was immediately hooked. It was the best of both worlds, getting me back into good shape while also fulfilling the competitive side of me as well. Through my experience at CFGB, as well as Army Basic Training, I’ve had first-hand experience on how good leaders and coaches can turn one’s life around. This inspired me to acquire my CrossFit Level 1 and try to be that type of influence as well.

My wife introduced me to CrossFit (CF) in October 2015, while we were living in Texas. I never felt interested in CF because I thought that the workouts were some type of aerobic workouts. But one day my wife invited me to try one of those “easy workouts” and I could not finish it within the time cap. The workout that day was running, box jumps and deadlifts, I thought I was strong but I found out that day that I was so out of shape.
Despite of that a great experience with CF I didn’t begin my CF journey until Jun 2016 a couple months after we moved to Maryland. I found in CFGB an excellent quality of coaches who have helped me not only become healthier, improve my mobility and aerobic capacity through functional movements, but they also motivated me through my passion of helping others to become a coach myself.
I received my CF- LV 1 and since then I have had the blessing of being able to help people become healthier not only in my Army job, but also in my civilian life.

I first started CrossFit in 2019 and was hooked by that first workout. It filled this void for camaraderie, physical and mental challenge I had been missing since competitive high school athletics. When we relocated to Maryland, CFGB was the best box I tried out and I fell in love with the atmosphere immediately. I wanted to be more involved, so marrying my two passions – visual journalism and CrossFit, becoming the social media specialist was a perfect match. I hope to see you around the gym sometime!

I found myself sitting across a plate of ribs at Mission BBQ discussing CrossFit with Max and Brian. I had just finished drinking the CrossFit Kool-Aide and was taking steps to open a new box. Brian, Max and the many wonderful, diverse and talented trainers at CrossFit Fort Meade – were looking for a CrossFit home. It was a match made in sweat-angel heaven.
I have been teaching group exercise classes since 2003. I enjoy cycling and weight-training as personal hobbies. In 2012 – looking to break-through a multi-year plateau in my own training regime – I took my first high-intensity interval training session. Struck by the CrossFit lightning-bolt, I reached new levels of fitness with each workout. I was amazed how different each class could be. I was even more surprised to find out how efficient CrossFit was at finding my weaknesses.
Helping others and building a strong community is important to me. Since 2008, I have been fortunate to have participated in the Spin-a-thon and Tour de Cure – annual charity events for the American Diabetes Association. I have also enjoyed teaching at the Workout for a Cure – a weekly CrossFit workout during the Fall and Winter of 2012 at local parks that I organized to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
In 2012, I successfully completed my Level I certification and opened CrossFit Glen Burnie. In 2013, I joined forces with CrossFit Fort Meade. We now operate CrossFit Glen Burnie near Fort Meade in Odenton, Maryland.
