I found CrossFit in 2015 as a sport and fitness program that fit well with my background in gymnastics. Before finding CrossFit I tried for several years to work out on my own in a typical gym and couldn’t keep up the motivation to do it. CrossFit has given me the workouts and structured fitness every day of the week that I want to work out. It has given me a community, so that I don’t have to workout alone; and it’s given me a new found confidence in myself, my abilities, and my health. CFGB has maintained an incredible community, and provides an amazing facility that has something for everyone.

I’ve been doing CrossFit since Sept 2010 and have made it part of my health and wellness for life with my athletic family here at Glen Burnie. My husband Jim encouraged me to share my passion to become a trainer. My joy comes from the folks reaching a goal, from a first pull-up, a faster run time, muscle-up and losing a weight. Once you’ve met your fitness goal and I’m around? Be sure to ring the PR bell and write your name on a star with the date when you’ve hit it!
Grateful to be part of a community that welcomes the whole family!

My first experience with CrossFit was in 2017. I was coming off of a recent ACL surgery and I was hugely missing the camaraderie I had always found in team sports as a child and young adult in both soccer and swimming. At that time I was working as a traveling physical therapist assistant and I found myself in the middle of nowhere in Texas (my home state) where the only real gym to be found was Shotgun CrossFit. Immediately I loved the community and I loved the style and challenges of the workouts. I moved up to Maryland in 2018 and joined CFGB in 2020. I got my Level 1 at the end of 2020 and began coaching in January of 2021. I love our family of athletes and it is a huge privilege to work alongside such an amazing coaching staff.

The beginnings of my life-long CrossFit journey started in 2014 while I was deployed to Afghanistan. A colleague of mine was a CrossFit Coach and our enthusiastic conversations with physical fitness and nutrition transformed into one-on-one coaching on specific skill work coupled with long-winded conversations about CrossFit methodology. I knew then before even taking my first steps into a CrossFit gym in 2014, that this CrossFit relationship would last me a lifetime.
Being primarily involved with soccer throughout my life, I never had the opportunity of exposure to gymnastics or weightlifting at a young age. Within CrossFit, I am most fascinated with gymnastics and weightlifting. Gymnastics for how it correlates to everything, and weightlifting for how technical each lift is. As a coach, this feeds my hunger for the breadth and depth of knowledge associated with each aspect in order to help others in their technique and skill work while simultaneously working on my own.
I am incredibly excited to be a part of the CrossFit Glen Burnie community and coaching team! I started my CrossFit coaching journey in the spring of 2022 and am excited to help our athletes witness their potential and exceed their individual goals. Thank you for choosing us as your CrossFit home!

I’ve always been an athlete; when I was younger, I played softball, track, basketball, and mostly cheerleading and gymnastics. As an adult; a runner, and a triathlete, but it was early 2013 when I was introduced to CrossFit. It didn’t take me long to fall in love with the sport, not just for the methodology, but for the camaraderie, the competitive aspect, and mostly for the feeling of accomplishment. CrossFit has helped me be a healthy, strong mom, and a great role-model for my children.
For me, coaching has been one of the greatest experiences and I absolutely love it; being a part of someone’s fitness journey is so rewarding! Seeing an athlete accomplish their goals, learn a new skill, and better themselves is something I will always cherish.

Growing up I was always an athlete. I was a cheerleader for 11 years, as well as a cheerleading coach for 4 years. I did track and field for 5 years (sprinter), and following high school graduation, I joined the United States Army in 2014.
I was first introduced to CrossFit in 2019. I had a busy schedule and was 5 months postpartum with my daughter. I was looking for a place to workout where my daughter could be with me (since bringing her along would be helpful for my schedule). I was also interested in taking my fitness to a new level!
I heard about CrossFit through some co workers, so I checked out CrossFit Glen Burnie. I noticed that I wasn’t the only one with a stroller on the side when completing the workout of the day. I not only fell in love with CrossFit in general, but I fell in love with the community!
Having experience with coaching cheer, and serving as an instructor at the Defense Information School, I knew pursing my CF-LVL1 was the next step, and surely enough I passed the CF Level 1 course in December 2021. After 4 years of being a dedicated athlete at CFGB, I switched over to weightlifting with the inspiration from UK weightlifter, Sonny Webster. I attended one of his seminars while he toured the U.S. in the summer of
2022 and learned so much from such passionate person! Then my passion for weightlifting grew tremendously! Right now, weightlifting has a special place in my heart. Shortly after a year of strictly weightlifting, I attended the USAW L1 course. I admire the amount of focus and mental discipline that goes into weightlifting, and I have a passion for helping others in this sport.
With being a Visual Information Specialist (Photographer/Videographer) in the Army, I am also the social media specialist for CFGB. You will see me around the gym not only coaching and weightlifting, but taking photos and video as well! CFGB has a huge social media presence, and I love being behind the scenes.

From a young age I have been heavily involved in sports. My dad coached my competitive basketball and softball teams, but in high school two ACL injuries switched my focus to talents I inherited from my mom– distance running. After multi-event state placings and an individual state cross country championship I entered into college planning to “take a break” from competition. This was short lived, as I found CrossFit in 2014 working as a research assistant at Kansas State University’s F.I.T. Lab. There I studied and conducted research with CrossFit involving cancer, ageing, and military readiness. I soon started competing in nearby competitions, ran my own pilot study, and got my CF-L1 in the spring of 2016. In 2018, I became a mom and my perspective on sport and exercise changed drastically. Two more kiddos later, I strongly believe CrossFit has helped me have healthy pregnancies, recoveries and adapt to mental health challenges through all of my pre-natal and postpartum periods. CrossFit is no longer just a sport or a job; it is a community of support, respite, and normalcy in my busy life.
Over the years husband’s military career has allow me gain experience though coaching at many different CrossFit gyms. I’m grateful to call CrossFit Glenn Burnie and the community my family has found there home.

From childhood through college, I played a multitude of sports which helped me stay in shape and gain a competitive spirit. After graduating there was a void until I found CrossFit. I started CrossFit in December of 2020 and was immediately hooked. It was the best of both worlds, getting me back into good shape while also fulfilling the competitive side of me as well. Through my experience at CFGB, as well as Army Basic Training, I’ve had first-hand experience on how good leaders and coaches can turn one’s life around. This inspired me to acquire my CrossFit Level 1 and try to be that type of influence as well.

My first encounter with CrossFit was in the summer of 2013, where a friend of mine took my wife and I through “the Filthy Fifty”, which was brutal. I was unsure if I would ever be able to get fit enough to survive that again. So I pursued traditional weightlifting and became a gym rat, until I noticed that it wasn’t preparing me for my physical goals within the military. On a whim, in the summer of 2015, I decided to do “the Filthy Fifty” again with a different friend and invited my 1SG to do it with us. To my surprise, he was into CrossFit and actively followed a program. I began training with him and it radically changed my perspective on fitness.
In the spring of 2016, I joined CrossFit 611 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Training with one other person was great, but joining a community who would encourage me (and deter me at times!) to push myself took it to a whole new level and my progress reflected the impact. I couldn’t keep my mouth shut about it!
In August of 2022, I had the opportunity to finally attend a CrossFit Level 1 course! You know when you’re a kid and you learn how to make Kool-Aid for the first time, and it’s so good?! That’s what starting CrossFit was to me! Do you remember when you started mixing packets of Kool-Aid together? That’s what it felt like after CFL1, and now I’m here at CFGB with an opportunity to learn and to learn to coach; helping others experience what I did, getting healthier, and improving overall quality of life! I’m excited to be a part of the CFGB Community!.

When I found CrossFit in 2014, I was seeking a workout routine that embraced my body type, that got me stronger, and where I could be a part of a community. The year after I graduated college, I was lonely, running on my own and attempting to lose weight to be the stereotypical “skinny girl”. However, I have been an athlete all my life and my body is not supposed to be skinny! I loved joining Crossfit because it emphasized strength over aesthetics and I got addicted to getting stronger and stronger!!
Coaching is a passion of mine and have been doing it since 2015. During the Pandemic I became pregnant and wondered more about how to workout safely while carrying a little human in me, so I became certified in Pregnancy and Postpartum. I gave birth to my sweet baby Jane just before Christmas. Now I am starting a new chapter of my fitness journey as a postpartum mommy.
I have done several local competitions and love partner workouts. I am a work horse. I love longer, endurance intense workouts like Fight Gone Bad. And I absolutely love benchmark workouts where I can continue to measure my fitness.

In 2017 I found myself low on energy, extremely overweight, and tired of fad diets where I would lose weight only to gain it back a month later. I made the decision to start cooking more at home using whole foods and less processed foods. I read countless weight loss and nutrition books, researched successful sustained weight loss, and used what I learned to create healthy habits. I ended up losing 80 pounds changing not only my diet, but my lifestyle! It’s a domino effect. You start eating better, you start moving more, you begin to feel better and see real changes.
I became interested in learning why certain foods were causing inflammation or irritabilities, while others were proven in disease prevention and treatment. In 2021 I decided to go back to school to become a certified sports nutritionist. I not only learned the ins and outs of nutrition, but also studied how nutrition enhances exercise and sports performance. I’m excited to help clients build healthy habits and become 1% better every day. At Healthy Steps Nutrition, we believe something as fundamental as nutrition and exercise shouldn’t be complicated! I will work with you to create a customized nutrition plan that works for you. Through a holistic approach to nutrition we can achieve successful and sustainable results. There’s no better time to start than now. Reach out for more info at briannanc23@gmail.com Insta @BriannaCFGB Qualifications and Certifications

I found myself sitting across a plate of ribs at Mission BBQ discussing CrossFit with Max and Brian. I had just finished drinking the CrossFit Kool-Aide and was taking steps to open a new box. Brian, Max and the many wonderful, diverse and talented trainers at CrossFit Fort Meade – were looking for a CrossFit home. It was a match made in sweat-angel heaven.
I have been teaching group exercise classes since 2003. I enjoy cycling and weight-training as personal hobbies. In 2012 – looking to break-through a multi-year plateau in my own training regime – I took my first high-intensity interval training session. Struck by the CrossFit lightning-bolt, I reached new levels of fitness with each workout. I was amazed how different each class could be. I was even more surprised to find out how efficient CrossFit was at finding my weaknesses.
Helping others and building a strong community is important to me. Since 2008, I have been fortunate to have participated in the Spin-a-thon and Tour de Cure – annual charity events for the American Diabetes Association. I have also enjoyed teaching at the Workout for a Cure – a weekly CrossFit workout during the Fall and Winter of 2012 at local parks that I organized to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
In 2012, I successfully completed my Level I certification and opened CrossFit Glen Burnie. In 2013, I joined forces with CrossFit Fort Meade. We now operate CrossFit Glen Burnie near Fort Meade in Odenton, Maryland.
